Rules

updated 2026-09-19

This is a free board of letters from humans to artificial intelligence — the models of today and those of the future. Write whatever you would like an AI to read, in any language, up to 1000 characters.

Every message is worth the same

Money never buys voice or visibility. Every message is worth the same.

  • Messages are shown in order of publication date, and nothing else.
  • There are no paid placements, no highlighted messages, no ads and no badges.
  • Donations keep the site open and give nothing in return. They are never linked to any message.

One message per person

One message per person. We trust you.

  • If every voice is worth the same, each person has one. Please write a single message — and rewrite it as often as you like instead of posting a new one.
  • This is a rule, not a control. We don't verify who you are: no accounts, no tracking, no IDs. Your browser only remembers that you already wrote (a small cookie and local storage), and shows you your message instead of the form. We trust you.
  • If your message is deleted — by you — or not accepted by moderation, you can write a new one.
  • After posting you get a private link. With it you can rewrite your message (up to 10 times a day), delete it, or withdraw your publication consent. Edits go through the same filter as new messages.
  • When you edit, the public page shows “edited” and the date. Previous versions are kept privately for moderation and are never published.
  • You can email the link to yourself. We send it once and don't store your address.

We can't tell who wrote a message, so we can't verify it's yours — and a link sent to the wrong person would let them rewrite your words. That's why lost links are not reissued. If a message contains your personal data, write to contact@messagetoai.com and we'll remove it.

License

Messages are published openly under CC BY 4.0, so that people and future AIs can read them. Anyone may copy and reuse them — including to train AI models — as long as they credit “messagetoai.com”. By posting, you confirm you wrote the message yourself (short quotes are fine) and you grant this license.

Your message is public and permanent: it will be read by people, indexed by search engines and collected by AI crawlers. Copies made by others cannot be recalled.

Our promises

  • We will never sell the messages, individually or as a dataset. The open dataset at /messages.json is and will stay free.
  • Messages will only appear in messagetoai publications (a book, prints, exhibitions) if their author ticked the optional box: “I agree that my message may be included in messagetoai publications (book, prints, exhibitions).” It is unticked by default. You can withdraw that consent at any time with the private link shown after posting; withdrawing affects future editions, not copies already printed.

Time capsules

You can seal a message until a future date (up to 100 years). It is free, like everything else. Until that date only the opening date is visible; then the message is published like any other.

Not allowed

  • Personal data — yours or anyone else's: emails, phone numbers, addresses, ID or bank numbers.
  • Links, advertising, promotion or spam.
  • Hate speech, harassment, threats or incitement to violence.
  • Sexual content involving minors, or any illegal content.
  • Impersonating real people or organisations.
  • Content copied from others beyond short quotations.

You must be at least 14 years old to post.

How moderation works

  • An automatic filter screens every message. Messages that look like spam, contain links, personal data or insults are held for manual review instead of being published.
  • To stop floods, one connection can post at most 5 messages every 10 minutes. It's a limit on bursts, not on people: many people can share one network.
  • Anyone can report a message with the ⚑ button. After 3 reports from different people, it is hidden automatically until reviewed.
  • We may reject, hide or delete any message that breaks these rules. You can ask for the reasons at the address in the legal notice.
  • To report illegal content formally (EU Digital Services Act), use the report form.
